China's 7 Coal Mining Companies Realized Production Capacity of 100 Mln Tonnes in 2011

Updated: 2012-02-01 13:44

China's coal mining industrial restructuring achieved fruitful results in 2011, with 7 coal mining companies capable of producing more than 100 million tonnes of coal per annum last year.

They are Shenhua Group, China National Coal Group (abbreviated as ChinaCoal), Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, Shanxi Coking Coal Group, Datong Coal Mine Group, Jizhong Energy Group and Shandong Energy Group.

The combined coal output of the foresaid companies last year were approximately 1 billion tonnes, accounting for about 1/3 of China's total output.

Jizhong Energy Group and Shandong Energy Group are reportedly newcomers, with annual production capacity of separately 102 million tonnes and 108.21 million tonnes in 2011.

The big leap in coal production of these two companies was mainly ascribed to their utmost efforts in restructuring.

In March last year, Shandong Energy Group consolidated 6 companies, including Xinwen Mining Group Corp, Zaozhuang Mining Group Corp, Zibo Mining Group Corp, Feicheng Mining Group Corp, Linyi Mining Group Corp and Longkou Mining Group Corp.

Jizhong Energy Group also spared no efforts to consolidate local coal mines in Hebei province, with 29 mines were reorganized last year.

Shenhua Group held the top spot in 2011, producing 400 million tonnes of coal. ChinaCoal came in second, with coal output of 164 million tonnes last year.

China aims to add 200 million tonnes of coal production capacity this year, compared with 95 million tonnes in 2011, officials from the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration, revealed at a national energy work conference held on January 10.
